4/8 Aries Solar Eclipse: Renewal of what it means to be a Heroine /Hero
Spring is ablaze with ardor as the quality of time is ignited by a total solar eclipse in Aries, the sign embodying the primal force to be born and the unwavering will to progress. Aries, the first sign of the zodiac, heralds not just the dawn of a day but also the arrival of Spring in the Northern hemisphere, signaling the reawakening of the natural realm from hibernation to vibrant bloom.

The Astrology of the Solar Eclipse
The distinctive traits of Aries are partly magnified in this celestial event, as it's not just the Sun and Moon converging in a conjunction—a regular feature during a new moon, which inherently carries Aries' essence. This eclipse, however, is particularly significant as the Moon, transiting precisely between Earth and Sun, completely obscures the Sun's surface, casting a total eclipse for a certain path on Earth. Coincidentally, Sun, Moon, and Chiron, the wounded healer, join at exactly 19 degrees and 24 seconds of Aries, adding profound meaning to all that Aries represents. Joining this configuration are Mercury retrograde at 24 degrees, the North node at 15 degrees (typically in close proximity to the eclipse point), and Venus at 4 degrees, all within Aries.

This nascent force is gently softened as Mars, the ruler and disposer of Aries, transits through Pisces and approaches a conjunction with Saturn at 13 and 14 degrees of Pisces, respectively. Additionally, in close semi-sextile aspect to the Sun, Moon, and Chiron are Jupiter and Uranus, soon to conjoin in Taurus on April 20 at 21 degrees.

It's quite a complex cosmic picture. For the Greeks, the word eclipse meant “to be forgotten by gods” and witnessing a solar eclipse from Earth can indeed evoke a sense of foreboding. The Sun's warm light gradually dims until darkness blankets the land, silencing the usual conversations of birds. In the darkened sky, stars appears alongside the Moon covering the Sun's disk which create an incredible spectacle. After light and warmth disappear along with the Sun, there is a re-emergence of a tiny ray of light until finally the Sun reemerges. Likewise, as the Sun and Moon represent our eyes, our ability to see temporarily diminishes, revealing something extraordinary and unusual. We might not be able to see what is unfolding in our lives, but a chapter may be closing, accompanied by feelings of surprise, anticipation, and perhaps some anxiety. Yet, with each ending, a new chapter unfolds, one that can be viewed as a powerful new beginning, tapping into the bold courage and action-oriented spirit of Aries.  On the other hand, unusual events, more impactful than usual in our world filled with violence and threats to humanity and nature, may occur.

Renewal
The time is right to set intention, and harness the quality of this time. The word "Aries" is derived from the Latin "aries," meaning "ram." The ram, a symbol of this zodiac sign, is also connected to the Latin word "arietare," which signifies "to butt forward," symbolizing the ram's prowess, courage, and strength in taking on challenges and leading the way. This intent to champion a cause and express oneself also embodies the fiery nature of Aries, just like the ram charges ahead. However, one might watch for potentially disregarding others or behaving impulsively, aggressive and single-minded. It's no coincidence that Aries rules  the head, symbolizing directness and assertiveness.

At this eclipse, the presence of Chiron closely conjunct highlight the wounding of the archetype of the bold yet careless hero. In myth, Heracles inadvertently wounded Chiron's leg with an arrow tipped with Medusa's poison by accident. Chiron, a centaur revered as a teacher and healer, dedicated his life to seeking remedies and offering healing to many, despite never fully healing himself. Possibly it invites us to be mindful on asserting ourselves in fiery way, while holding a caring attitude towards others.

As Mars conjoins Saturn in Pisces, there's an added dimension of compassion or even fanaticism during this eclipse. Can we sense the interconnectedness of our lives on Earth? Can we muster the courage and strength, characteristic of Aries, to step forward, speak out, and champion causes in ways that respect the existence and well-being of others?

Setting New Intentions
This is a potent time to set new intentions and to notice what is in our lives that needs the strength of this energies. Some among us may have a caretaker personality, shaped by past experiences that prioritized tending to others' opinions or needs at the expense of their own, or   impacted by cultural or religious values that affirmed these beliefs. For them, the journey of this period involves finding the courage to address their own vulnerabilities and assert themselves.

On the other hand, those more attuned to the assertiveness of Aries may find it fitting to lend support to voices that are often overlooked. For some, it may be about championing a collective cause and showing up with courage while remaining aware of others' perspectives. Or to be a champion for marginalized and underprivileged groups that do not have a voice.  The opportunity here is to chart a new path, with the ardent glow that Aries energy constellate and the compassionate attitude of Chiron, who knew the meaning of hurt, as he endured it himself, offering empathy to others.

Another perspective revolves around healing the wounds associated with narratives of independence and assertiveness, symbolically linked to Aries, a sign often associated with the concept of "I." In Western culture, ideals of rugged independence, self-reliance, and not asking for help have been deeply ingrained and overly praised. However, beneath these values often lie fears of abandonment, rejection, and vulnerability. Perhaps this eclipse offers a chance to experience healing and embrace figures who embody a balanced approach to self-reliance, dependence, and connection.

Even rams, as part of the mammal species, live in groups with other males or occasionally join female flocks, highlighting the inherent social nature and interdependence that exists within the world of mammals.
Retrograde Mercury is set to cross over the eclipse point on April 15-16, highlighting that significant information have yet to emerge. It will turn direct on April 25th, and over the eclipse point again in May 4-5, bringing more clarity with every passage.

Those of us with planets and points at exactly 19 degrees, and those between 18 to 21 degrees of Aries, Libra, Capricorn, and Cancer, will experience this energy most intensely. Additionally, those with planets in mutable signs like Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and especially Pisces, may find resonances with events from approximately 7 years ago, around the time of the eclipse in 2017. This is because Saturn's current transit is marking a phase of completion, re-assessment, and endings, ushering in a new chapter.

4/23: Full Moon in Scorpio: Strength and passion

The full moon in Scorpio, occurring on April 23, at 4 degrees of Scorpio will mark the culmination of the eclipse, closely following the exact conjunction of Uranus and Jupiter in Taurus on April 20. During this time, Mars, the ruler of the Moon, will be in conjunction with Neptune. Additionally, the Sun and Moon will be squaring Pluto, the ruler of Scorpio. This alignment suggests a transformative and passionate quality to the upcoming period. While the effect of the eclipse set the stage for the following 6 months, this full Moon highlight what has emerged since the eclipse.

Scorpio's influence signifies the transition into fall in the Northern Hemisphere. As nature blossoms and blooms, Scorpio represents the shedding and decay, symbolized by the first spring flowers fading away. During times of heightened intensity like this, it's advisable to practice grounding techniques, seeking support from oneself, friends, or other sources to help manage the influx of energies. This way, you can show up for yourself and others in a balanced and supportive manner. The full Moon is likely to constellate a powerful and intense quality of time, offering the opportunity to discern our deepest desire and give steadiness to our intentions.

Wishing you all a time of renewal, and strength as we witness the suffering of many in our world. And I share these words from Mary Oliver:
“I adore the sense of aliveness and vitality that comes with spring. As if I could feel it actually turn on with the vernal equinox, everything feels endless full of hope.”
