Listen, breathe. The kick drum is thumping in an offset rhythm to your beating heart and the bass is thundering vibrations through your entire body, tuning you into the stage and every other person standing in the crowd. Lightning strikes in your mind as dueling guitar riffs peel away the fog and a keyboard bubble floats loftily like clouds over it all. Then come the lyrics, messages of connection and grace. Ease flows through the entire scene and you're awoken by the tingle of resonance on your skin.

Do you feel it? This is Iya Terra.

Iya Terra means higher ground, which they seem to find everywhere. Whether it be the top of the latest charts or next year's festival billing, Iya Terra is constantly climbing.

Bringing a modern-conscious approach to songwriting, Iya Terra crafts messages in love & respect. Currently based out of LA, and with members hailing from the west coast, SLC, and Vegas, their powerful rhythm section provides the heartbeat over which scintillating guitars and soothing vocals float melodies of universal resonance.

UB40 inducted into Camden's Music Walk of Fame
Reggae band UB40 have been honoured with a stone and inducted into the Music Walk of Fame in Camden, London.

Ali Campbell, who was the band's frontman in their 1980s heyday, said it was a "full-circle" moment as he recalled how performances in Camden helped propel the group to fame.
Stars including the late Janis Joplin, The Kinks, Buzzcocks and Billy Bragg are also being honoured.

Campbell said Camden was "special" for the band as it was the first place they performed outside their hometown of Birmingham, getting them noticed by prominent artists and driving their success story.

Having played at Camden-based music venue Dingwalls, the band secured a spot at Rock Garden, which led to The Pretenders' Chrissie Hynde noticing them and eventually resulted in an invitation to tour with her band.

"It's like a big circle coming back to Camden and getting a star on the Walk of Fame," he said.
Formed in the late 1970s, UB40 enjoyed success with their covers of hits including Red Red Wine and (I Can't Help) Falling In Love With You.

The original band split in 2008 when Campbell quit over a disagreement about management and was later joined by Mickey Virtue and Astro - who died in 2021 - to form a breakaway outfit.

RASTAFARIAN CELEBRATION OF PETER TOSH’S BIRTHDAY FEATURING MARLON ASHER TO BE HELD AT THE ASHKENAZ IN BERKELEY ON FRIDAY, OCTOBER 13
Out Of Many One Productions presents the Peter Tosh Birthday Celebration. This annual celebration will be held at Ashkenaz in Berkeley on Friday, October 13 at 8pm. Featured artists are “The Ganjah Farmer” Marlon Asher, Kava Jah & The Remedy Band, Ras Takura Dub Poet, and Jahwarri. The Nyabinghi Drummers will also be performing ceremonial Rastafarian drumming and chanting, and the host of the evening is MC Spliff Skankin, popular reggae radio host from KPFA.

Peter Tosh was a Rastafarian and in keeping with his beliefs, the entire event will be performed by Rastafarians. The public is welcome to come and enjoy this pure Rastafarian ceremony with an exciting musical line-up.

Headliner Marlon Asher, the “Ganja Farmer” is a native Trinidadian and is the first reggae sensation out of Trinidad & Tobago who is now one of the most sought out artist in the country. His talent and ingenuity were released to the world in 2004 with his break-through smash hit “Ganja Farmer” which swept Trinidad & Tobago and quickly took over the Caribbean and the United States, Africa and Europe. Marlon’s 2nd huge hit “Ganja Cowboy” also made a splash on the Caribbean community. Controversial yet captivating, the two songs together are both considered instant classics and anthems for all who can appreciate the benefits of “Ganja” proving so with a combined total of over 15 million views and downloads.

Event producer, Carlton Campbell "Carl T", who is also Peter Tosh’s cousin and toured with him extensively in the 80’s, keeps the fire burning for Tosh’s music and message by producing this annual event. Campbell says, “We have tried to do it every year since 1988 but missed a few years, especially during Covid”.

Winston Hubert McIntosh, OM (October 19, 1944 - September 11, 1987), professionally known as Peter Tosh, was a Jamaican reggae musician. Along with Bob Marley and Bunny Wailer, he was one of the core members of the band the Wailers (1963–1976), after which he established himself as a successful solo artist and a promoter of Rastafari. He was murdered in 1987 during a home invasion. His 1975 hit “Legalize It” became an anthem for legalizing marijuana and by Rastafari and reggae music enthusiasts. Tosh was active in opposing South African apartheid.

The Ashkenaz Music & Dance Community Center is located at 1317 San Pablo Avenue in  Berkeley, CA. This is all- ages event.

Jah Teff Releases New Album ‘Money Grow Wing’
Typical of serious artists with new music on the market, Jah Teff is chomping at the bit to promote 'Money Grow Wing', his second album, which was released August 17, 2023.
The nine-song set hears him working with different producers, as the veteran Singjay looks to break into markets beyond his Dancehall base.

"This album is full of vibes and headbangers," he declared. Most importantly, Jah Teff notes, 'Money Grow Wing' projects his maturity as an artist after over 25 years in the music business.

“The difference with this album, it’s more dedicated to my life and my growth in the music industry. I have grown tremendously doing this and have a lot more experience learning about the business,” he said.

Some of the songs from 'Money Grow Wing' include 'Chop A Chop', produced by Jermaine Frazer and 'Erectile Dysfunction', an Omarie Lawrence production.

Jah Teff's first album, 'Pan A Knock', was released in 2015. At that time, the Jamaican artist had done  the rounds in his homeland and the US, cutting songs for producers such as Bounty Killer, Jah Life and Ed Robinson. In fact, it was Bounty Killer who produced 'Excercise', his first song which came out in 1996.

His most successful song to date is 'Can't Sleep', with Kiesha Martin. Released in January 2023, it has over 4,500 streams to date.

Jah Teff was born Gary Johnson in Montego Bay, the scenic city which is the mecca of Jamaican tourism. It also has a rich music history, producing acts like The Blues Busters, singer A J Brown, singer/bassist Benjy Myaz and Kirk Bennett, the hottest session drummer in contemporary reggae.

But for any artist with eyes on making it big in Jamaican music, Kingston is the place to be, and he moved there in the early 1990s.

While in the capital, he rubbed shoulders with producers such as Jack Scorpio, and acts like Bounty Killer and Anthony B. The latter, who like Jah Teff is a son of western Jamaica, took him on his first US tour just over 10 years ago.

Over the years Jah Teff has performed on events including Bob Marley Concert in Los Angeles, the Miami Sound Fest and New York City Benefit Concert.

Jumpout Production released its eighth compilation various artist album on August 25, 2023.

Producer Gary Sutherland, professionally trained at Tuff Gong in the early 1980’s is excited about this upcoming project.

Teaming up with another Reggae seasoned gem, Noel Alphonso who played all guitar, drums, keys and bass, and another legend Dean Fraser, who gifted pronounced saxophones,  Gary anticipates Reggae lovers will appreciate this composition.  One of the renditions was back in 1992 with Bobby Digital’s Love Bump/Rougher Yet Riddim.

“Other renditions might be out there but this is what I remember and almost 40 years later, why not put our spin on It to a new generation and show gratitude to real authentic reggae music” says Gary O. Sutherland.  The nine track album includes 80’s hitmaker Pinchers, crooner Ian Sweetness, international artist Chyna Nicole, another veteran Mikey Melody and he has his own father featured – Father Stone.  “Many don’t know that we have so much talent in the Sutherland family and my father Glenford Sutherland aka Father Stone, is one of them.“

Gary Sutherland continues.  A few of Jamaica’s local talent also graced the album.
LOVE YOU SO MUCH Riddim is also inspired by Freddie McGregor who Gary has worked with on several projects in the 90’s.  LOVE YOU SO MUCH RIDDIM will be available on all streaming platforms courtesy of VPAL Distribution.

Issachar Muzik Releasing New Single from Empress Akua, "Slow Down"
Slow DownOut NOW On All Platforms!

Issachar Muzik is proud to present "Slow Down", a new single from Reggae singer/songwriter Empress Akua.

This single is distributed by the iconic Tuff Gong International.

Listen/Stream/Download here:

The songbird reflects upon this release, "I wrote "Slow Down" because of experiences that I've had with several of my male associates, check the lyrics of the song, they explain it all. I don't move fast in relationships, and don't I like to be pushed into one. It's better for me to take my time to see if we can be friends first before lovers because I really need to know who I'm dealing with especially at this point in my life. Finding a friend first in another can create a love that will last which is better than moving off of lust that most times creates disasters. Overall, it truly depends on what you want, I'm speaking for myself."

Wilmington, DE ~ Saturday, September 23 - 29th Annual Peoples Festival Tribute To Bob Marley
People's Festival29th Annual Festival in Tubman-Garrett Riverfront Park - Something for Everyone! One of the longest running, most anticipated events of Delaware’s festival season is readying for 2023 with new features, great food, great crafts, and as always, great music spreading Bob Marley’s positive message of Unity, One Love and Equal Rights.

For 29 years, the “People’s Festival Tribute to Bob Marley” has highlighted the significance of Marley’s ties to the city of Wilmington, where he lived, worked, played, and wrote some of his iconic songs sharing his experience of the time spent here.

Marley came to Wilmington in 1968 to be close to his mother. While there, Marley earned money to launch his career, working at two of Delaware’s largest and most well-known companies, DuPont, and Chrysler.

In 1995, Marley’s close friends Ibis and Genny Pitts brought to life a vision by Marley’s mother (Cedella Marley Booker) that Wilmington be the site of a tribute to her son, who had passed away in 1981.

The “One Love Revival,” set to lift the vibration of the city, is scheduled Sept. 23, 2023. This year will feature several musical genres, including Soca, Calypso, a tribute to 50 years of Hip-Hop, and of course, lots of Reggae music. International artist Reemah from St. Croix is slated to appear, along with local up and coming Superstars and regional bands.

International food court, arts, and crafts from around the world, a healing garden, children’s village, bamboo rain hut, a state-of-the-art beer garden and lots more surprises! VIP area featuring a taste of local restaurants, breweries and other highlights including a hookah and cigar lounge, photo booth and much more!

Bob Marley built a musical career which spanned the globe and gained him worldwide iconic status. He received many awards, including a post humous Grammy Lifetime achievement award in 2001. His positive music continues to grow in popularity with new generations, bringing him a success greater than he experienced in his lifetime. His connection to Wilmington
continues to be documented in books, songs and on the big screen. ‘MARLEY’ the movie, released in 2012, includes an interview with his good friend and festival founder Ibis Pitts.
