Microcosms
by Huiying Dandelion Chan

tree bark creates homes
that house whole habitats

       photons of sun singe
       scorched skin dry

microscopic drop of rain
flood swamp lands thin

       one drop of leaked oil
       contaminates entire rivers

gusts of wind gut windows
& gutters of pristine homes

       imprints of words
       stunt a plant's lifespan

microcosms of atoms
shape entire societies

& you think your own skin
       cells insignificant?
