HOW FAR WILL A SHARPS RIFLE SHOOT?
Mike Venturino
...finally time rolled around to try the Sharps. They elevated the gun carriage to 35 degrees and touched off a round of Dennis Bardon’s loads using a 675 grain bullet powered by about 90 grains of FFg. All the scientists running the equipment started stuttering and stammering, collectively saying, “It couldn’t be!” They just couldn’t accept that a bullet launched by black powder and starting out at a muzzle velocity of only 1,216 fps landed over 3,600 yards away! I heard mutters of, “Shoot another one, something must not be working right.”...

A suburban mom in Texas was handcuffed and jailed after letting her 8 year old son walk a half mile home from karate class. Police told heather Wallace her son could have been kidnapped and sex-trafficked. Facing a prison sentence for child endangerment, Wallace took a plea deal requiring parenting classes and 65 hours of community service. The whole family suffered “deep trauma” Wallace said.

The Wrath of Pele...
The world’s largest active volcano, Mauna Loa erupted this month for the first time in 38pele years. The erupting volcano, which reaches 13,681 feet above sea level, poses a variety of hazards, including volcanic gas, volcanic smog, fine ash and particles that locals call Pele’s hair, after the Hawaiian goddess of volcanoes and fire. Gas bubbles in the lava burst and rapidly cool, creating sharp glass strands of molten lava, that are about 0.001 millimeters thick and up to several feet long. Pele’s hair blows downwind and can lodge in human skin.

Gobble Takes on a Whole New Meaning
turkeyResidences of Woburn Massachusetts are being terrorized by a flock of five wild turkeys led by an aggressive male nicknamed Kevin. The bird has beset pedestrians, postal workers, and kids on bikes and even stopping traffic by blocking roads and pecking at tires. “They don’t let you out of your house” said resident Meaghan Tolson adding that many neighbors now keep brooms or rakes by their door for self-defense. “If you are walking or jogging or anything like that they come for you.” “When Kevin is not around the other turkeys are much more mellow” said Tolson, “He kind of amps them up.”

Dear Pete (eBay, of course), Abby and I work hard during our retirement to provide period correct information about firearms to collectors and enthusiasts. The reprint Colt Patterson booklet you bought should have been printed correctly. If it wasn’t, we will happily replace it with one that is as good as the original. Please let me know what was wrong with the copy we sent you. We also offer a refund if you wish.                 We don’t have much advertising budget so wesurpriserely on the goodwill of customers to make ends meet. A negative feedback, unfortunately, is very damaging and just encourages others to “pile on” with nasty comments- human nature at work. Negatives stick with us for an entire your, so I’d like to ask you if you would agree to revise your feedback to positive. Please let me know, Cheers, Rob

eatBob - you do provide a valuable service to those looking for info in older publications - sorry about the bad feedback but i called it as it is - no need for a refund but i suggest you improve your repro capability - pete

Pete, Thank you for your most gracious consideration. As a newby to eBay with zero experience, I want to tell you eBay procedures require you offer the vendor (us) the opportunity to fix a problem before you bomb them us poor feedback that sticks with us for an entire year. That is, of course, unless you thought what you were buying was an original because you didn’t read the second line of the ad and are angry with yourself! Rob (I guess calling me Bob indicates how closely he reads things)

Hi Abby, Do you have available the FN Browning Model 1906 6,35 m/m owner's manual babyreprints?  (NOT the later, smaller .25 acp "Baby" Browning, but the very first 6,35mm pistol designed by John M. Browning.)  Also, do you have the Webley & Scott Model 1906 owner's manuals for their small 6,35mm (.25acp) pistols? Thank you.  All best. Eric

Hi Eric, This is the 1906 6.35mm that in the manual they also call "Baby" so it is the original reprint from that date for the pistol. The 1900 model was same cal but slightly different I guess, but I don't have a manual for that one. Basically, the earliest small cal Webley manual I have is the c1912 pistol- the date might have been earlier though, take a look at the image. Best, Abby

Hi there, I am looking for a Sears gun catalog reprint. it is in the 1950's. They sold a FN rifle named the J.C. Higgins Model 50 or 51. With this rifle they also sold a leather case which the rifle would fit in as well as a scope and cleaning kit. The case is pictured here - https://www.gunbroker.com/item/958770445. Do you have such a reprint with a picture? Or maybe a listing of it as an accessory with the Model 50 rifle? Thanks, Dave Johnson

Hello David, Sears may have sold the 50/51 with a case, but they didn't advertise it that way. In all catalogs from the 50s cases and accessories were sold separately. FYI the M50 was sold as an action only in '54 and with a stock in '55. From then on it was the M51. Best, Abby

Thanks a lot for checking (Dave)

childI have a Hopkins and Allen OPen Top 22 revolver. I wanted to know if there is a picture of the hammer in the 1914 arms parts catalog or the 1903 arms parts and repair catalog. I would like to purchase a copy but I don't want it, if there is no picture of the hammer. If the picture is in both catalogs let me know. Thank You. Dan

Hello Dan, That particular catalog, the 1914, has the parts for the small frame "automatic hammer" revolver and the police revolver (which was available in .22). Both have good drawings of the hammer.
Cheers, Rob

Thank you for your quick response. I have placed my order. Dan

The Flobert Gun – History: Are the pictures inside the book in color like the cover or areflobert they just Black & White? thekey1944 eBay

Pictures are in B&W. We note in the description of our reprints when the insides are in color. The inside page we show next to the cover would also be in color. By the way, the images Joe Vorisek used to illustrate his books were often of poor quality having been copied using rudimentary equipment from the 1960s- see the image with the ad for an example. Rob

Looking for the old Wolf & Klar catalogs from Fort Worth. Wondering if you might have? Evan

Hello Evan, No, I'm sorry, I did a search on the website and it didn't come up. Cheers, Abby

Thanks Abby.  I couldn’t find them either.  If you ever get a chance I’m sure people would be interested.  As you may know, Wolf and Klar was a major distributor in Texas and Southwest through first half of 20th Century.  Among other things they personally stimulated bringing back the Third Model S&W Hand Ejector which collectors refer to as the Wolf and Klar model.  They specialized in chromed, engraved models. Happy holidays, Evan

Hello Erik, you must not be able to see images from the website, I'll put it below. We print to order so there is a brief wait for delivery. Best, Abby

Thank you for your answer. Please answer following questions as numbered:
1. When you print it, how do you put the pages together? Please describe how you put them together as detailed as possible.- folded/stapled
2. Do you cut pages so no white margins are visible? trimmed with narrow margin
3. Is the size of your manual the same as original? nearly
4. Is the print double sided as with the original manual or is it print on one side of each page? yes

We really didn't want him to buy it, he wants an original to go with his pistol and would likely not be happy with our reproduction... 20 years experience, we know!

Do you folks have reprint manuals for the early (first generation, post war) Harrington & Richardson Model 632 (.32 S&W Long) revolvers? Thank you. All best... Eric

Hello Eric, If you are looking for an exploded parts view, no, they didn't come into general use until after WWII. I'll attach a link to all the H&Rs we reprint: https://cornellpubs.com/harrington-richardson/ Best, Abby

Hi Abby!  Many thanks for your lightning fast response.  We're not looking for the exploded view, but we would like to find the owner's manuals that came in the factory box in the 1950s for the model 632 Guardsman solid frame.  All best... Eric

Hi--Have been a Cornell Pubs customer for years; thanks for being there! Know that yousurprise have a 'new site,' and I believe that I just completed another order. That said, for some reason, I can't download your catalog, etc. An old guy, I'm using a desk top w/older MS Word & Outlook, so don't know (not savvy enough) if it's a problem on my end, or elsewhere. I had also sent you an e-mail a couple of weeks ago about one of the items I ordered today (1891 Mauser Manual, en Espanol)--and never got a reply. Just wanted to let you know that at least on my end, there are some minor problems. I ordered today for today was the first time I could 'locate' the Mauser Manual on the site. Again, thanks for being there. Pete

Hello Peter, I'm sorry if I missed an email from you but the most recent one I can find, other than this one, is from April of 2019 (I almost wrote 1919!). I'm also sorry the catalog/manual download lists don't work for you so I'll attach them, just click on the download to open. Please let me know if I can help any more. Best wishes, Abby

Ms. Abby:  Thank you for your quick response!!!!    As I received 'Pay Pal' confirmation of my order, I'll assume all's well... Also, thank you for sending the Manuals & Full Catalog Lists! Sincerely, Pete T.

Hi, I'm looking for a catalog that includes an image n any info on a Savage Model 500, 1938-1942. Nice to know you are into these kind of reprints. Checked 2 of your descriptions but didn't find it. Thanks, Bruce. brbri1739: eBay

Bruce, I've not heard of a Savage 500 and it almost certainly isn't from that era, nor is a 500 listed in later parts manuals. Where did you hear of a Model 500? Rob for cornellpubs

Almost no one has heard of it so far but according to a table in one of my reference books 200 were produced. I also found a request for information in an old gun guy blog. I m running my tables at a gunshow right now. Will find the table I mentioned n send you a pic. Thx, Bruce

Winchester Model 94 Lever Action Sequence of Take-Down and Assembly Operations:
Hello, I’m looking for the take down sequence manual for the Winchester model 1894 for the year 1947, as explained in your description. I can’t seem to find it in your store. I’m94 interested in anything you have for Winchester in 1947 that contains model 1894. Thank you. Tom

The Winchester takedown manual referenced here will do the trick for your rifle. In fact, this whole series of Win manuals for guns they produced is excellent. Winchester changed manufacturing methods and parts for the M94 in 1964 so you are good there too. There is no better reference manual for your rifle than this one. If you are looking for the manual at the website it is toward the end of the Winchester listings, otherwise this one will do fine. Cheers, Rob for cornellpubs

Remington Arms Model 11- '48 Manual: Does this cover the original Browning pattern 11 '48“square-back” gun? The description on E-bay is confusing. I am looking for maintenance, repair and parts list information. Thank you for information. xx WL Thomson wtho6318 Ebay

I am sorry, I am not familiar enough with the firearm to distinguish variants, but I suspect not. The original was introduced in 1905 as a licensed copy of the Browning Auto 5. That said, the 1948 version of the manual is the earliest one we have. However, the Remington 1910 catalog we offer has several pages on takedown of the one they sold at that time and includes cutaway drawings of the action. Oh, sorry, for future reference you mention the ebay listing is confusing. Can you tell me in what way you found it so? Hope this helps, Rob

Listed as "Model11- '48 manual". Picture shows the 'square-back' Model 11, which is my interest. Is the " '48 " in reference to the year edition of the manual? There is also a 11-48model 11-48 Remington, which is the updated, "streamlined" receiver, which I am sure also has internal changes. (not what I have) That is the source of my confusion. Thank you for info. xx wtho6318

We are just launching a new website so have absolutely no time. If you send me your email with a request for this manual I'll send you a free pdf, if it works you can pay me. How's that? Rob
