9/25: Libra New Moon: Fighting for Harmony
10/8-9: Dancing Around the Fire: Aries new Moon and Pluto Station
Imagine being in a forest, around a warm and bright bonfire, the bright orange flames dancing at their own music and lighting up the darkness. We might dance too and be mesmerized by fire: it warms, moves freely, contracting and expanding, so much so that we might forget the darkness all around. This month's full Moon in fiery Aries gifts us with fire and light to see, move, and initiate our dance and look at what lies in the shadows we might feel plunged into for a few days as the Full Moon at 16 Aries blooms on October 9.

This astrological landscape also bears the signature of the roman god of the underworld, Pluto, stationing direct on October 8. Pluto symbolizes the otherworldly riches that lie in the depth of the earth, beneath the surface, invisible to the naked eye but yielding incredible transformation when integrated. The god of death and rebirth, treasures, and deep-seated memories hidden in our psyche, knocks at the door of our consciousness calling to be acknowledged, like those shadows in the background. Not an easy task, as Pluto represents that which we feel ashamed of and parts of us try to hide. However, the station of the planet offers the opportunity to look inside with courage (fire), humbleness, and compassion as Chiron, the wounded healer, joins the Aries's full Moon. Additionally, Pluto will support Mercury in Virgo, which is beginning to pick up speed and move forward after this confusing retrograde cycle. (Those with planets and points between 25 and 29 Capricorn, Libra, Aries, and Cancer will experience this more intensely.)

While Moon is disposed of by Mars in Gemini, slowing down in its path forward as it will turn retrograde on October 30, the Aries lunar energy with Chiron activates our inner skies with warmth, grit, and initiative.

Chiron was a wise centaur, a teacher, and a doctor, who was hurt accidentally to his leg. He spent his life finding a cure and, in so doing, brought healing to many, but never fully healed himself. His "weapons" were the deep compassion and knowledge he developed from his own suffering and healing. He is associated with the healing professions and symbolizes the importance of doing our own personal work and healing so that we might be able to bring healing to others from an emphatic and compassionate stance. The warrior associated with Aries, the old hero archetype, led with aggression and oppressive authority. It's a wounded figure who needs transformation and might benefit from learning to lead with empathy and compassion as well as with strength and courage.

The raw energy of these days also might manifest with the shadow qualities of Aires, such as impulsivity, aggression, abrasiveness, and impatiently jumping forward without consideration for others. But, on the other hand, we might all keep time to ground ourselves deeply into the earth, to stay present in a calm and aware inner space.

In the world, we might see dictators and tyrants still rising from the ruins of the patriarchal world, as well as new leaders that speak courageously of healing (Chiron). In our personal lives, this Full Moon calls for Aries's bravery to face the challenges ahead of us and Chiron's patience and compassionate attitude towards our own and others' wounds. We might ponder and reflect on the healers and heroes of our times and within ourselves. Who are the healers & heroes we look to for inspiration? Where in our lives do we need to show up with courage and compassion? What kind of hero do we want to be in our lives?

10/25: Slowing Down: Upcoming Mars Retrograde

Mars slowing down over the month and turning retrograde at 25 degrees of Gemini on October 30 invites us to remember to slow things down, mirroring in this way the slowing down movement of Mars in the sky. Mars will move retrograde until January 12 at 8 degrees of Gemini. When the red planet approaches the station, it invites us to pause, review, and retrace our steps in all matters related to Mars in Gemini. This could manifest in how we take action and communicate and express our anger, work, and physical activities.

It's helpful to look ahead till the end of the month with the awareness that we might need to review and reassess aspects of our work, particularly since the beginning of September. (Those with planets and points between 8 and 25 degrees in Gemini, Virgo, Pisces, and Sagittarius, and those with strong Mars or Aries and Scorpio in their chart will experience this more intensely.) On October 23, Saturn will station direct at 18 Aquarius, finally moving forward for the third time and bringing some closure to changes that began back in January-February of this year. A solar eclipse will follow on October 25, while Jupiter will move back into Pisces on October 29. While the road might be a bit bumpy, as so many planetary changes take place in the sky in such a short period, the time is right to embrace Mars's slower pace and stillness.

We all experience astrological weather differently, depending on our individual charts. I offer individual consultations to better navigate this cycle of change, sharing the wisdom of astrology and all that it can offer to foster your personal growth and soul journey.
I'll share more on Mars retrograde and eclipses in the next post. In the meantime,

I wish you all to sit and dance around a warm and cozy fire.
