Let me share my thoughts about the time we are living in with you, fellow travelers. I hope that gaining some shamanic perspective can ease this time of transformation.
Dragged into the future
The eagles and condors are teaching us to embrace hope.
Most people around the world are holding their spinning heads, wondering, “What’s going on now?” I don’t think that I am the only one who is frustrated, confused, and sometimes deeply depressed over the events we have been experiencing in the last 30 years. Why is it happening? Where are humanity, organizations and religion in all of it? Can we make sense of it?
To make sense of it, I want to take you on a bird’s-eye view by evoking an ancient Andes prophecy perspective shared with me by Yachak, Taita don Alberto Taxo, a master shaman (Birdman-Shaman) from Ecuador in 1997 (he unfortunately passed on this year). It was on my first visit to Ecuador with a small group organized by John Perkins. Sitting in a circle in his humble home’s yard, in his village on the High Andes. It was a beautiful spring day. We gathered under the cooling shade of an old and big tree, when Don Alberto shared with us the “Condor and the Eagle prophecy” his father and grandfather passed on to him.
With a kind heart and a full wise smile, he alleged that the Andean people counting of time is in clusters of 500 years. They called it Pachacuti. In Kichwa, the language of the Inca, Pacha means time-space, and cuti means correction or realignment. Within this paradigm, a new era of realignment of time/space has taken baby steps. In about 1993, 500 years after the killing of Atahualpa, the Inca’s emperor, a new has Era began.
Don Alberto asserted that during this new Pachacuti, our civilization will experience an awareness and conscious shift for a better future. It will be a time when the Condor–representing the people of the South who lead with their hearts and the Eagle–the people of the north who lead with their mind will fly together in one blue sky in a flight of peace, harmony and cooperation. It will be a time of the return of the feminine energies to humanity. In the beginning of it, there will be a resistance by the Eagles to hold on to power, no matter how, to prevent it for fear of change. But the future is already written.
I remembered looking up at the cloudless blue sky, imagining the two mystic birds twirling together above our heads. I believe we can start seeing this vision together.
A call for action.
Should we sit on our hands and wait for the time to change? Absolutely not. I believe each of us must step in and use our inner shaman gifts—the way nature skillfully designed us for our species’ survival–to help the wounded ones in these shifting times. We must assist those beheld by fear of scarcity, and traumas, to find balance, courage, trust, and faith by using the feminine gifts such as dreams, visions, touch, songs, good food, good calming words, compassion, supported by solid masculine action. That is the role of the modern shaman-healer, the Keeper of the Fire, as the Tungus tribe calls them.
Those who perpetrated evil today are truly needy for the love they never received as children. They are desperate for approval and acknowledgments. Unfortunately, they get it in twisted ways by forcing millions to adore them. They are the consequence of 500 years of toxic masculine energy brainwashing culture, separation from nature—the breakdown of supporting communities and families. Sadly, human memory is short.
Present-day people must re-learn to be human by learning from those we tried to eradicate for our illusionary progress for centuries. Those indigenous people still carry the needed keys of their ancient wisdom of living in harmony, sustainably, and in abundance with Pachamama–Mother Earth.
The Eagles must admit and take responsibility for their path that led to a disastrous socio-economic and environment failure, and against their past instincts, listen and embrace the Condors’ teachings and practices.
On the other hand, the Condors must willingly offer their sacred wisdom and solutions in this time of crisis. Generously, without holding back, as many Native American elders and others do. The talk about Culture Appropriation creates and deepens division based on fear. Instead, we need open-hearted inclusion. Spirit gave this sacred wisdom to us all. It’s not owned or copyrighted by any human. It’s not enough to pray “We are One.” Be willing to be one, which requires forgiveness and the understanding that we have a mutual destiny to meet. Sharing and exchanging will benefit ALL humanity and our shared Mother Earth.
Only by weaving the two cultures together will we avoid sinking with the Titanic. Hopefully, we will arrive sooner and unscathed in the new Pachacuti with a brighter future.
