With so much going on in our world today, it's easy to feel overwhelmed and out of balance. Nature, too, can have intense, destructive storms, but somehow it manages to come back to a place of balance and renewal. Animals are able to reset and return to calm after stressful situations - like escaping a lion chase, for instance. As modern people, we have gotten disconnected from Nature and, thus, lost much of our ability to return to a sense of balance after stressful situations - such as being under deadlines at work or reading the news online.
One way we can reconnect with Mother Earth and our inner peace is through earth-based rituals that are specifically intended to honor the earth and our place within Nature. Participating in a ritual of creating a Despacho (prayer bundle) and putting in your prayers and positive intentions can do just that. Similar to a mandala or sacred creation, the Despacho holds symbolic elements and the prayers of the participants. As the elements are added to the Despacho (inside a large piece of paper), the vibration of the participants and the room raises. The Despacho becomes a living prayer that brings energy shifts, healing and balance.
The making of Despacho prayer bundles originated in the Andes Mountains over five thousand years ago among the medicine men and women of the Q'ero people - ancient ancestors of the Inka still alive in Peru today. Tonight, LinDel will lead us in creating a beautiful Ayni Despacho for balance - within ourselves; with Mother Earth and all her children. All materials will be provided. Please look into your heart and bring your prayers / intentions for balance and healing for yourself, all our relations and Mother Earth. May we all come back into balance. Aho!
