The making of Despacho medicine bundles originated in the Andes Mountains over five thousand years ago among the medicine men and women of the Q'ero people (ancient ancestors of the Inka). Using items from the natural world, the medicine people created a Despacho as an offering bundle to the Divine to bring balance, healing and blessings to the people. It was also a gift of gratitude to honor the give-and-take of Life. After the ceremony, the Despacho bundle would either be burned for rapid transformation or offered to a large body of water or buried in the ground for a slower, gentler shift at the energetic level.
Tonight, we will create a beautiful community Ayni Despacho. to bring balance and healing into our lives - individually as well as globally. The concept of ayni (EYE-knee) is about being in "right relationship" or balance with All of Life and within yourself. The more balanced you become, the more you will come into alignment with the Flow of Life, which in turn, will bring healing and abundance on all levels -- physical, emotional, mental, and energetic/spiritual. We will also include prayers and intentions for our human family to come into Ayni with Mother Earth bringing healing for her, her precious resources and all her children.
Ingredients used in the Despacho include: flowers, beans, grains, corn, sugar (for sweetness of life), chocolate, candies, colored strings, shells, and many other representations of all we'd like to come into balance with. (These will be provided as part of the materials fee, but you're also invited to bring a small, burnable offering, too.) The most important ingredient of all for making a Despacho is our intention. Please look into your heart and bring your prayers / intentions for balance and healing for yourself, all our relations and to Mother Earth.
