APRIL FEATURED EVENTS
  Monthly Fire Ceremony

 Fire Ceremony

 Friday, April 7th
 6:45 pm

~ led by Katy Koontz

The purpose of the FIRE CEREMONY is to heal and purify both the planet’s physical oceans and the oceans of cosmic thought.

At 7 pm local time, fire elders light ceremonial fires at each of the Peace Sound Chambers around the world. Those present watch the fire in silence until it burns out, giving to it what we want to transmute in our lives and staying open to the messages and teachings it brings.

Come to the fire ceremony if you enjoy focused meditation, if you are looking for new ideas and insights, if you seek to release and transmute something that does not serve you, if you want to join in the service of healing the oceans (both physical and cosmic) or if you’re simply called to participate in a ceremony that honors this powerful elemental force.

All are welcome.

We suggest you arrive around 6:45 pm.

Donations are appreciated.
April 8th ~ Rebuild the Sweat Lodge

Work Day

to Rebuild the Sweat Lodge

Saturday, April 8th

10am-4pm

As we enter the Spring of 2017, it is time to refresh our sweat lodge structure. This is best done as a community and in a sacred way.

Steve Citty who has led sweat lodges here at the Center over the past twenty years will lead the building of this lodge. The process will be done as a ceremony and in a mindful manner. Most important is that all who come will have a place of respect in the process and we will move at a pace supported by the Spirit of the lodge. No hurry.

***********************
If you have access to or know where we might obtain willow branches of about 1-2 inches in diameter, please contact Steve as soon as possible. We want to have those on site and prepared prior to the work day.

  • Men are requested to wear swim trunks, gym shorts or something similar.
  • Women are requested to wear a skirt or dress. (Something for inside the sweat that is modest and you don’t mind getting muddy.)

MAY
Saturday, May 6th ~ Young People's Dance
 Young People’s Dance
Saturday, May 6th

Do the Dances at the Center For Peace Interest You?
Want to learn more?

The Young People's Dance is the perfect opportunity to have a great time with your family and the Center For Peace Family. Come and learn with your children in a peaceful, safe environment.

The Young People’s Dance is a one-day Dance beginning with a sweat lodge at 10 am and ending in late afternoon with a feast and a giveaway.

Most Dances at the Center are traditionally a time of fasting, but because the focus of this dance is on young people, water and light food will be available between Dance rounds for any dancers who feel they need it.

Dance Chief Nan Citty, LCSW, has participated in native-based ceremonies
at the Center for Peace and abroad (in Brazil, Israel and Ireland) for more nearly two decades.  Other dancers, drummers, singers, fire tenders, and chiefs who actively commit their time at the Center for Peace will be helping us with this Dance. Grandfather Joseph has blessed these children and us all with his teachings.

The cost to put on the dance is $25 per person $100 for family of 4 or more. There is no charge for ceremony.

NEW Monthly Teachings - 3rd Sunday in May
Elders' Wisdom Teachings

Honoring the Elders - October 16, 2016

In 2016 we held an Honoring the Elders gathering at the Center For Peace. This gathering brought into sharp focus how many wonderful teachers there are who have an association with the Center For Peace and an abundance of wisdom to share.

In 2017 the Center is poised to experience a resurgence in energy, fueled by new participants who are looking for the teachings that our elders can provide.

The Council decided to launch a monthly Elders' Wisdom Teaching program to be held the second Sunday of each month. (The teaching in May will be held on the 3rd Sunday to allow Mother's Day celebrations.)

Over the past 30 years of the Center's existence, there have been innumerable teachers who have come to share their teachings with us. It would be impossible to recall all of those teachers to return; however, our elders were here for those teachings, they have internalized that information and enriched it with other experiences in other settings and in many cases around the country and around the world.

It is our hope that these gatherings will enrich the lives of seekers as well as long time members of the Center.
WEEKLY
Monday Night Meeting

Monday Night Meditation

Every Monday

7:30pm-9:00pm

Several of the people who have been attending the Tuesday Night "Drumming, Meditation and Channeling" over the past several years have joined together as a group to continue on this path.

Since the group is evolving, we will be working on different subjects agreed on by the group:
  • guided meditation
  • Reiki instruction
  • we will listen to audio books or programs as a group
  • discuss whatever comes in the door
  • and many other subjects.
We look hopefully forward to the occasional night that Perry might join us.

We look forward to seeing you this coming Monday, February 27th at 7:30.

Friends of the Center

We are asking for sponsorship through monthly donations.

These donations do not need to be large but if those who love the Center for Peace could help by committing a few dollars on a monthly basis it could be the difference between always hoping that someday we will be able to build or provide those needed areas (i.e. showers, sleeping areas, restrooms) and actually making it happen.

If you have participated in any of the programs, offerings, and events that occur on an ongoing basis at the Center for Peace you have already felt the personal blessings from these activities. Our mission is to be a Spiritual Center for our community which extends to anyone open to this learning path.
