You are invited to our Open House on Tuesday, April 5th from 5-7. This event is for both current and prospective parents.
CURRENT PARENTS: If you already have a child who attends the school, this will be a great time for you to see some of the work that your child has been doing. Please bring your child so that he or she can demonstrate some of their favorite lessons. Also, please share this information with anyone that you think may be interested, and feel free to invite them.
PROSPECTIVE PARENTS: Please join us to find out more about our philosophy and our curriculum. The will be a chance for you to meet some of our board members and the amazing Mr. D. We'll be happy to show you around the classroom and give you information about the flow of the day.

WHAT ARE RACKS AND TUBES?
|
At the Yadkin Valley Community School, we use many tools and manipulatives to teach all subjects. In math, we use Racks and Tubes for a lesson on long division.
Watch this VIDEO. It provides a great demonstration of this work.

THE WONDERS OF THE HUMAN BODY
|
Earlier this month, we took a field trip to the Millis Regional Health Education Center. Click on the link below to see the photos from our trip. This facility is a wonderful place to take students to learn about the human body.

SQUIGGLY, SQUIRMY WORMS BEING PUT TO WORK
|
As part of our outdoor classroom, the students built a worm bin (from scratch). This month, we added the worms. Soon we will have compost for our garden. As you can see, the kids were pretty excited to put the worms in their new home. Check out our facebook page for more photos of our time in the garden.
More information about worm composting can be found at Planet Natural.
