Martin County River Kidz

The River Kidz Founders had the exciting opportunity to meet Dr. Jane Goodall at Adams Ranch, by invitation of The Pegasus Foundation's head, Barbara Birdsey, on April 1st.  The Kidz were able to tell Dr. Jane about the destruction of our waterways and present her with the new River Kidz Workbook, tote bag, and tee shirt.  She spreads wonderful messages across the globe of people and kids bringing hope and encouragment to environmental situations and animal welfare.

On Saturday, April 11th, The Kidz were face painting again at Environmental Studies Center Earth Day Celebration in Jensen Beach, bringing lots of joy to little ones!  We displayed all of our information and got many sign ups for our email blasts.  Kiele Mader even got to play ukulele with Mr. Bo Reynolds for all to hear!

Mrs Jacobson’s 2nd grade class from Citrus Grove Elementary graduated as River Kidz on Earth Day!
They displayed their Kissimmee River Lake Okeechobee glitter-water toxic algae project, created art, wrote letters to Congressman Murphy, and celebrated completing their River Kidz Second Edition Workbooks. Yeah Kidz! Yeah Mrs Jacobson!

Mrs Maya Gebus-Mockabee led JD Parker 1st graders in a 2 week program which included River Kidz together with the Ocean River Institute teaching: "Save Our Sharks."  The IRL is the 2nd most important bull shark nursery in North America and many endangered sharks live off our beaches. The students are working for a shark protection zone off the St. Lucie Inlet's reefs. The Kidz came up with the motto: "Protect and Respect!" The have learned that sharks are important to ocean ecology and often misunderstood.
