Farther out but WELL worth the visit
I'll be coming to my favorite Ann Arbor store, Zingerman's.

On the 18th of February I will doing a guided honey tasting featuring some different varietals that we don't have here.  If you live in that neighorhood there, you are in for a treat because I will be bringing some honeys from here and you will be able to compare local from here with local from there.  We'll be making a few bites with a few of these varitals.  The book really focuses on varietal honey so we'll be describing what that means.  Think complex to understandable.

On the 18th I'll be in the Roadhouse for a dinner featuring recipes from my new book.  I'll tell some stories and some facts with the intention of making complex easy.

Give Zingermans' a shout to save your spots.  I'd love to say hi to you too.

The link is about the Roadhouse dinner but they can connect you with the Honey tasting event too.

How sweet it is!

Zingerman's Deli

warmed by the bees
I do love this bee bonnet.  Underneath this hat right now is, um, not much.  But the good news is that very short hair right now is good beause it IS winter and I have nice warm hats and I have a good collection to keep all warm.

Maybe all will be better by summer when I will no longer need a hat or warm assistance.
In the meantime, I happily don my bee hat.

Smile.

We have amulets back in stock
After selling out twice, our re-order has arrived.  Now is a fine time to get yours.  Valentine's Day a sweet time to give something to your someone special.

The amulets are filled with 1/12th of a teaspoon of honey, the amount of honey made by ONE worker bee in her entire working life.  An astounding fact, would you say?

Let me know if you'd like to order some.  I can send them or you can come pick yours you.  Just give a call.  If you are coming to Ann Arbor I can bring yours.

A word or two from Laurey
February 5, 2014

Howdy do to you from Asheville on a chilly Friday afternoon. I’m here in my office tucked with my office mates comforted by the sound of type type typing. Everyone is writing menus and talking with clients and planning wedding events and dinners and all sort of things. We’re all kind of amused that we’re speaking with folks who are planning wedding for the spring of 2015. WHAT? That seems so far away? Why wait that long?

The skies here are grey and full of chill. It is all I can do right now to get up. I flip the comforter back, hop over to the thermostat, push up to day time temperatures, hop back into bed, wonder that I NEED to do and then with force myself to get up to do something or pull up the covers and settle in for another span of time. For me, this is a nice time as I sink in for a little bit longer.

One little pleasure I have these days is searching for a slipper. Tye, the trickster, likes to drag my slippers out the dog door where she hides one and generally leaves one for me to discover – if I am lucky. Right now I have just one of my longest-lasting ones. Too bad for me. Fortunately I got new slippers for Christmas so I am not totally freezing. I can’t imagine where she might have stashed the other one. Under the deck? In a pile of leaves? In a tree? Any thoughts.

So – I’m going to keep this short today. I’ll be around here tomorrow when I am not at Thyme in the Garden. Hope you do manage to come see me there.

And I hope you have a nice weekend.
I’ll tell you a story or two tomorrow, okay?
Cheers,
Laurey

Coming up too!
In a week or so I'll be giving you some thoughts on being a part of a couple of fundraisings around here.

The quick look is that I am raising funds for Livestrong in two ways:
First is that I am a part of The JOYride - a ride for the Livestrong at the YMCAs of Western. A free exercise and support group for people who are living with cancer.

The second is that I am signed up again to try to ride across Iowa, The Register's  Annual Great Bike Ride Across across Iowa.  This is th third time I've signed up and, if I am able, it will be the first year I will be riding.

Thirdly, our own Henry Thome is participating in our local Make a Wish Trailblaze Challenge.  It's a one-day walk and you can support him in his fundraising efforts.

As soon as all of us all set up, I'll let you know how to sign up.

For now, please hold space for us.
Thanks,
Laurey
